Asheesh provides regulatory, business and application/licensing advice to cannabis industry stakeholders, including cannabis patients, licensed producers/standard cultivators, production applicants (micro/standard), ancillary businesses (e.g. packaging), cannabis retail operators/applicants, and start-ups.
Asheesh has a comprehensive understanding of the legal framework governing cannabis in Canada (Bill C-45 – The Cannabis Act & Regulations), including the previous governing regulations (MMAR, MMPR & ACMPR) and seminal court decisions, including R. v. Parker and R. v. Smith.
Asheesh continues to further develop his expertise in the area of cannabis law by spending time with stakeholders, and attending industry conferences and continuing legal education seminars across Canada and Internationally.
Asheesh’s experience includes commercial tenancy disputes, shareholders’ remedies, land related disputes, land development, construction and builders liens, foreclosures, debtor/creditor remedies, and shareholder/partnership/society disputes.
Asheesh’s practise experience includes representation of Indian Residential School sexual and physical abuse survivors (BC, AB & SK) at pre-judicial conferences and settlement hearings pursuant to the Independent Assessment Process (IAP).
Asheesh’s personal injury experience also includes representation of hundreds of individuals who have suffered injuries as a result of motor vehicle/pedestrian/motorcycle accidents, including catastrophic spinal and brain injuries, and wrongful death claims pursuant to the BC Family Compensation Act.
